Banana Peel Over Manhattan, oil on canvas, 48 x 60 in., 1998.
This was the first painting in the 'Snacks Over Manhattan' series. It was
inspired by the blizzard of '96. At one point the snow was so deep the trash
trucks couldn't pick up the trash. When the winds were at their strongest,
things were flying around everywhere--I looked up at the night-time sky and
imagined a 10,000 foot long banana peel looming ominously above the city.
When the snow began to melt, every New York City dog had a field day.
